The Tula Ergonomic Baby Carrier is made to endure and last for a long time and will ensure that your babies are safe, comfortable, and happy.

SAFETY | Ergonomic and Sturdy

The Tula Ergonomic Baby Carrier is one of the most popular carriers on the market, and for good reason. Besides the seriously cute (and endless) designs available, this baby carrier rates high for safety. The lightweight and breathable canvas fabric is hand-made and is 100% OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, meaning there are no added chemicals or fire retardants in the fabric. This is one of the top certifications to look for when it comes to baby gear, so Tula wins points here.

Another big win for this carrier is that it keeps baby’s hips in the ergonomic M-position, which helps support baby’s hips for proper development. When buying baby carriers, keeping baby’s hips in this ergonomic position is very important as it helps prevent hip dysplasia in little ones, something that can stop children from walking. There is also great back support that helps baby’s spine develop properly. The back of the carrier goes up high enough to support baby’s head, but some users have said this limits baby’s viewing capabilities.

Tula Ergonomic Baby Carrier Review

One good safety aspect for parents is the ergonomic design with nice padded shoulder straps and a wide waist belt to distribute baby’s weight evenly. There’s no need to be any more tired or sore than we already are from raising crazy little munchkins!

COMFORT | Light and Cozy

Comfort is a big win for the Tula Ergonomic Baby Carrier. For parents, dual-adjustment padded straps provide optimal neck and shoulder comfort and support. The waist belt is also extra wide so that baby’s weight is more evenly distributed across your waist and back. This gives your shoulders and tired back a break and allows for endless adventures with baby.

The material that comes into contact with baby is perfectly soft.

When it comes to baby’s comfort, there are great features that provide for a cozy carrying experience. Extra leg padding keeps baby’s legs protected and comfortable while in the carrier and the fabric is thin and flexible but still sturdy, where other carriers are more bulky and heavy. There is also a removable hood to support baby’s head if they fall asleep. Although the outside fabric is made of a sturdy canvas material, the material that comes into contact with baby is perfectly soft. The removable hood also protects little ones from harsh sun or wind and is also comfortable for breastfeeding while still in the carrier.

There are a few downsides in the comfort category, however. Parents have stated that older babies that are interested in looking around aren’t able to see very well due to the high back of this carrier. There are also only two ways to carry baby with the Tula, but keep in mind that these two carry positions (front inward, and back inward) are the safest carry positions for baby’s hips. Front outward carry has a tendency to not support little ones properly, which could lead to serious health problems down the road.

Versatility

The Tula Ergonomic Baby Carrier lacks a little in versatility. There are two carry positions, front inward and back inward carry. The lack of outward carry positions makes it a little harder for little ones to explore and see the world, but it is also easier on their hips using the inward carry, so we see why Tula stuck with those two positions.

There are two carry positions, front inward and back inward carry.

The carry weights are pretty versatile, however, and start at 15 pounds going all the way up to 45 pounds. Toddlers up to age 3 or 4 could easily be carried in the Tula. The back carry could be used for bigger children that are tired from a long day of walking and need a little rest. The lower weight limit has the option of starting at 7 pounds if you use an infant insert that provides proper support for a newborn.

Due to tons of fun (and, ahem, manlier) design options, the Tula Ergonomic Baby Carrier can be used by both parents. The straps are easily adjusted and provide support in all the right places. This allows both parents to bond with their kids and share the load.

Performance

There are a lot of good features that come with the Tula Ergonomic Baby Carrier that many parents enjoy. Starting with endless fun and seriously adorable designs to choose from, there’s an option for everyone. The breathable material is flexible but strong and isn’t bulky like a lot of other carriers. Although the cute designs are printed on a canvas material, the fabric that touches baby is soft, with extra padding where their legs rest. This is an awesome lightweight but sturdy carrier.

Putting on and removing the carrier is fairly simple and can be done by one person. Many users have stated that it’s very intuitive to use, and no instruction manual is needed. Other carriers we’ve reviewed have a lot of complicated buckles and straps. But the Tula Ergonomic Baby Carrier has a waist belt buckle that goes on first, followed by baby insertion, putting the shoulder straps on, and buckling the shoulder straps together in the back. The waist and shoulder straps can easily be loosened and tightened even while wearing the carrier, making it especially easy for both parents to wear it, and also for moms to breastfeed while wearing the carrier.

A removable hood is a perfect addition for a couple reasons. It provides support for baby’s head if they fall asleep and can also protect their delicate skin from harsh wind or sun. The hood also provides perfect coverage for comfortable breastfeeding. There is also a large front pocket on the contouring hip belt of the Tula Ergonomic Baby Carrier. This makes it easy to carry small items like keys, phone, or money when out and about. It is machine washable on a gentle cycle but needs to be hung to dry, sometimes a little inconvenient if you’re in a hurry.

Longevity

The Tula Ergonomic Baby Carrier is a great option if you’re looking for a long-lasting carrier. It can be used from infancy (with the infant insert) all the way up to 45 pounds which can easily include some 3 to 4-year-olds unless you’re raising a little linebacker. Tula also offers a toddler carrier that can be used from 25 to 60 pounds. The fabric and buckles are also very sturdy and will stand the test of time.
