The Mother Nest Ergonomic Carrier is a great option for adventurous kiddos and parents looking for a quality baby carrier on a tighter budget.

SAFETY | Safer for Older Babies

The Mother Nest Ergonomic Carrier has many thoughtful little features that many other baby carriers don’t have, and that includes safety. First off, this carrier is recommended for babies 4 months or older, or starting at 12 pounds and the highest weight limit is 33 pounds. The front carry is recommended for starting out with younger babes, while moving to the back carry option for 8 months and up. It’s best to tell if your baby is ready for the back carry position is when they can fully support their head.

A two-layer removable hood is perfect for little ones that like to sleep in the carrier. It can also protect baby’s delicate skin from the sun and harsh wind. Both layers of the removable hood are perfect for cold seasons, while the single mesh layer is awesome for hot weather, protecting from the sun while still allowing breathability. The hood can be stored away in the front pocket when it’s not in use.

Mother Nest Ergonomic Carrier Review

The Mother Nest Ergonomic Carrier is also made of durable and quality material. The adjustable buckles that keep baby secure to your body are heavy duty and durable with safety buckles in case of an accidental opening. Many parents have commented on the quality of the fabric and that it is comparable to more high-end baby carriers. It’s also made of 100% cotton, allowing for better breathability while also making it easier to clean.

It’s important for baby’s legs to be supported at the knees…

One of the most important safety features to look for in a baby carrier is an ergonomic seat for baby. It’s important for baby’s legs to be supported at the knees, putting the hips into the “frog position.” This position is super important for proper hip development in young children and prevents long term serious issues like hip dysplasia. The Mother Nest Ergonomic Carrier puts baby’s hips in the perfect supported position.

COMFORT | Extra Padding and Support

There are many features built into the Mother Nest Ergonomic Carrier that make it a comfortable experience for both parents and baby. The 100% cotton material makes for optimal breathability for everyone while also making it easier to clean. For baby’s comfort, the two-layer removable hood provides protection from the elements, but can also be stored away in the front pocket when not in use. Both layers are perfect for added warmth in the winter, while the mesh layer is perfect for sun protection in hot weather because of its breathability.

For parents, there are a few features about the Mother Nest Ergonomic Carrier that literally take the weight off your shoulders. The shoulder straps have extra thick padding to help ease the weight. The shoulder straps are also contoured to fit an adult’s shoulders comfortably while reducing pressure points. The waist belt allows for pressure relief and provides great stability while carrying. It’s a wide belt measuring at 5.5 inches wide allowing the weight of baby to be evenly distributed across your waist.

Adjusting the waist belt is easy so that parents and other caregivers can adjust the straps to fit their body, unlike wraps that only come in certain sizes.

EASE OF USE | Many Thoughtful Features

Versatility

The Mother Nest Ergonomic Carrier lands in the middle of the road when it comes to versatility. Although there are two different carry positions (which is not really that many when compared to other carriers we’ve reviewed) the back carry position can really only be done with the help of two people. This makes it harder for one person to put their baby in a back carry position when they are alone.

…anyone can wear the Mother Nest Ergonomic Carrier as long as the straps are adjusted…

As far as user versatility goes, anyone can wear the Mother Nest Ergonomic Carrier as long as the straps are adjusted for a good fit. Many carriers and wraps come in sizes which make it harder for more than one user to fit into them, but this carrier is widely adjustable.

Performance

Although the Mother Nest Ergonomic Carrier has the basic needed features of a good baby carrier, there are a few extra useful ideas packed in as well. Unlike other carriers we’ve reviewed, the Mother Nest has great storage and pockets throughout its design. There’s a removable small pocket (that kind of looks like a fanny pack) that Velcro’s onto the waist belt and can be removed when not in use. This pocket comes with two layers which help separate baby’s items from yours. Also, there is an elastic pocket on the waist belt as well as a zipper pocket that is perfect for small items like keys, money, or phones (except for the colossal giants we carry around these days).

The two-layer removable hood is perfect for protecting baby from the elements while still providing breathability. It can also be tucked away in the front pocket when not in use. Drool pads are perfect for protecting the fabric from drool attacks and are easy to remove for washing. The entire Mother Nest Ergonomic Carrier is machine washable on cold but should be hang dried so it doesn’t shrink. Because this carrier is made of 100% cotton, many parents have claimed that it breaths very well and doesn’t get too hot while wearing baby, even in warmer weather.

Mother Nest Ergonomic Carrier Features

Another great aspect of this design is the two-layer hood that protects baby from the harsh elements. Both layers can be used to keep baby warm in the winter, or the single mesh layer can be used for breathability and shade in the summer. In addition to the added safety of the two-layer hood, the ergonomic design of the Mother Nest Ergonomic Carrier keeps baby’s hips in a safe position to prevent hip dysplasia.

PRICE + LONGEVITY | Best for Older Babies

Longevity

The Mother Nest Ergonomic Carrier is meant for babies that are a little older, starting at 4 months old, or 12 pounds and up to 33 pounds. Because baby wearing is oftentimes done in the “fourth trimester” or when baby is very young, this carrier misses out on the newborn stages of your baby’s life. This is the stage when most babies prefer to be in a carrier or wrap as it most mimics the environment they’re most used to – the womb. Once baby gets beyond the newborn stage, this carrier would be perfect for their more adventurous stages. After about three to four months, babies start looking for some excitement, and the Mother Nest Ergonomic Carrier is perfect for fulfilling this need.

Price

The price for the Mother Nest Ergonomic Carrier is amazing for the quality design, features, and fabric that is included. With this price, ergonomics, comfort, safety, and fun features aren’t lacking. Many parents have stated that this is a durable and well-made product that is very comparable to higher end baby carriers that cost three times as much. The extra storage and other thoughtful features make it stand out above other carriers we’ve reviewed.
